SUMMARY OF POSITION

 

The VP Business Development Europe leads Adalvo's European new-business agenda, building a high-quality pipeline and converting differentiated portfolio opportunities into profitable partnerships. This role sets the strategy, raises commercial standards and leads a team that combines market intimacy, scientific-commercial judgement and relentless execution.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Europe BD Strategy 

  • Define and execute the European business development strategy by market, customer segment and portfolio platform. 

  • Own new-business targets, deal pipeline, conversion, value and forecast accuracy. 

  • Prioritise opportunities using market attractiveness, differentiation, probability, economics and launch readiness. 

  • Turn customer and competitor insight into clear portfolio and go-to-market choices.

 

Deal Leadership

  • Lead strategic licensing, supply, co-development and partnership negotiations. 

  • Ensure each opportunity has a robust value proposition, business case, stakeholder map and close plan. 

  • Drive deal teams across Commercial, Portfolio, R&D, Regulatory, IP, Finance, Legal, Supply Chain and Operations. 

  • Maintain speed without compromising value, compliance or executability.

 

Customer & Market Leadership

  • Build senior relationships with leading European pharmaceutical partners and local champions. 

  • Create structured coverage of priority accounts and identify opportunities for cross-selling and portfolio expansion. 

  • Represent Adalvo at relevant industry and partnering events. 

  • Establish disciplined use of CRM, market intelligence and competitor tracking.

 

Team Performance 

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing European BD team. 

  • Create ambitious individual and regional targets with transparent pipeline reviews and accountability. 

  • Raise capability in negotiation, consultative selling, financial storytelling and executive communication.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Life Sciences or a related field; an MBA is advantageous. 

  • 12+ years of pharmaceutical B2B business development, licensing or commercial experience, with deep European market exposure. 

  • Proven record of leading teams and closing complex, high-value licensing and supply transactions. 

  • Strong understanding of generics, specialty products, peptides or biosimilars, competitive dynamics and European regulatory pathways. 

  • Advanced deal economics, valuation, pricing, negotiation and contract-shaping capability. 

  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder leadership and board-level presentation skills. 

  • Strong CRM and analytics discipline; Power BI, SAP or equivalent experience is advantageous. 

  • Fluent English; additional European languages are advantageous. Willingness to travel.
